biography

short story long

Although Tavish's first experience of being on stage was at the age of 10 for a school play, it was only in 2007 during his first year of architecture at Manipal that he really discovered his passion for acting and the performing arts. After joining Dramanon Manipal (the student chapter of a theatre company that runs in Hyderabad as well as in Bangalore) there was no turning back. Tavish first bagged the role of Giles Ralston in the group's production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.  The next production, six months later, saw him co-direct a stage adaptation of Blackadder - Goes Forth where he also played the title role of Edmund Blackadder. Post Blackadder, Tavish took over as Artistic Director for Dramanon Manipal and continued to stage productions every semester while he was there.

During this time Tavish began to explore music production with close friend and teacher Hiren Vara. The two of them started working under the name Bulletproof Peach - a band that enjoyed a fair bit of success online. Although the band doesn't produce music anymore, both Tavish and Hiren continue to produce music independently to this day. You can listen to Tavish's latest work here.

While pursuing his degree in architecture, Tavish would make trips to his hometown of Hyderabad where he worked with the Hyderabad chapter of Dramanon, staging productions with the team there over the holidays.

In 2011, Tavish graduated with a degree in architecture and numerous productions under his belt across Manipal and Hyderabad. He was involved in every aspect of staging a play - from acting and directing to graphic, set and lighting design.

2012 was a pivotal year. While working at an architecture firm and pursuing theatre simultaneously, Dramanon Hyderabad entered the AYNA Theatre Competition. Tavish won Best Actor for his role as Sam in Sarah Provost's A No Play which was judged by Bollywood stalwart Om Puri. The group also won Best Female Actor and Best Play. Soon after that he was cast in a TV commercial for 7UP - his first experience acting on screen. A few months later he composed his first jingle! All this led to a crucial moment in Tavish's life: He decided to quit architecture and pursue acting, film making and music production full time. After a brief stint with a production house in Chennai, he moved to Bangalore and joined Dramanon Bangalore.

Tavish spent the majority of the next four years in Bangalore performing shows at the city's premier theatre venues like Rangashankara and Jagriti; as well as staging supper theatre events at some of the city's finest hotels and restaurants. The group also became extensively involved with corporates, developing customized shows and workshops. To know more about Tavish's work with corporates click here

In 2015, Tavish auditioned for Disney India's first ever stage musical Beauty and the Beast. After a gruelling round of auditions with over 8,000 applicants across the country, Tavish was offered the role of LeFou - Gaston's bumbling sidekick. Tavish moved to Mumbai for rehearsals in June 2015, joining the final cast of 18 for 4 months of intensive voice training, acting coaching, physical fitness routines and dance training before the show opened in October 2015. All 10 shows were sold out before opening night! Every night saw 2,500 people being entertained by the country's best in what was Disney's grandest stage musical in the world! The show then traveled to Delhi in December 2015 and returned to Mumbai for a second season in May 2016.

In June 2016, Tavish ended his long relationship with Dramanon and moved to Goa where he joined The Peas & Carrots Theatre Co. The group staged productions in April and October 2016, receiving full houses and fantastic reviews for both shows thereby creating a niche for itself in the English theatre market in Goa.

Today, Tavish lives in Mumbai working as an actor, director, voiceover artist and musician while continuing to hold his position as Associate Artist at The Peas & Carrots Theatre Co.
